Installation of Plugin (Yoast SEO Plugin)

Installing the Yoast SEO plugin is too easy as all you need to do is to go to the plugin tabs from the left toolbar on your dashboard. Click “add new plugin” and search for WordPress Yoast SEO plugin, then click install and let the Yoast plugin get installed and activated. How to setup SEO in WordPress

  1. Enabling Yoast

After installing the plugin, you need to configure some general settings of the plugin. Go to the SEO section on the dashboard page. Now you will see the features tab under the section. Switch to the features tab & enable the function named “Advanced setting pages.” Now you will see some new items which have opened in your SEO section under WordPress menu. Don’t forget to click the save button to save all the changes.

  1. Setting Your info

Now under the SEO option you need to go under the “your info” tab. This is the place where you will be providing information about your website and the person or corporation powering it. Just provide your websites’ name or any alternate name that would be taken into consideration by search engines. The name of your site may be your site’s title. Your site name would be automatically considered as its title in case if you leave the column blank. Now choose the owner of your website whether it is an individual or a company. You can add the name of the person or company and add up a logo of your company if any exists.

Adding Titles and Metas

  1. General tab lets you enable/disable the readability or keyword analysis and let you choose your title separator.
  2. Then comes the homepage tab. The homepage title here will be the title to the main directory of your website. Better leave the title template the same and add some Meta description if you want to and then save the changes.
  3. Under the posts tab, you can add a title or any description of your post which will remain same for all your posts. We recommend you should better keep this blank as it is beneficial to add this information individually to each post
  4. Under the taxonomies tab, leave the settings as they are.
  5. In archives tab, disable the author archives if it is a single author blog and enable it if is a multi-author blog.
  6. Under the additional settings tab, leave everything unchecked.

Social Section

Social tab lets you integrate your social media accounts with your blog and allows you to share the blog posts on the social media accounts. Under the accounts section enter URL to all your major accounts. Correctly add URL’s, and under the Facebook tab,ensure that open graph Metadata option is enabled as this will display the right thumbnail for your post whenever someone shares it on Facebook. Posting Content

Now after you set your blog’s SEO it’s time to post some content. The content can be posted using “add new post”. After you are done writing your content run the readability and keyword analysis. This must be done after you enter the focus keyword of your article. Yoast will do a quick SEO check of your article. Follow the instructions given by the Yoast column and ensure that all the bullet points given are green or at least orange. Ensure that you leave no bullet point red. Check the readability and SEO score. Check the snippet of your search result and ensure that it is appealing and to the point.
